Lethal War Zone

"Trees and Tanks Do Not Mix Well."

submission: Lethal War Zone
date: March 19, 2009

This is a fairly well set up RTS style game. The sprites are all well done, though the enemy units could have done with some diffrentiation to make them distinctive from your own forces. The AI paths fairly well, at least untill it runs into a tree. Tanks and trees do not mix! The one notable problem with the AI is that it paths into columns and then you can get instances where your forces are stuck in a long line when there is an enemy right in front of them and the ones in the back of the line cant get at.
The set up of the tech is fairly easy to grasp and works pretty well. Though perhaps the Radar should not be slaved to the power source so drastically. Have not played the Air side of the game yet but I suspect that the air units seriously need to have a new unit such as a helicopter that performs the same function as a tank insteead of flying out, firing a few shots then flying back to base and having to be reassigned a target.
With the addition of more units and tech this has the potential to be a very good game and I enjoyed playing through the Ground side of the game.
Some tips on play:
A repair truck, especially one that has been researched up to 5 or better, is infinitly cheaper than hacing to rebuild a destroyd unit.
If you can, get and research the MG towers or tanks that have anti-air capacity. Very usefull for swatting down jets.
Focus on one or two types of tanks rather than spreading your research out over several. I focusrd on the Heavy II and the Medium II since in the latter stages the big tanks speed and firepower is needed to take down the gun emplacements.
Allways build a back-up power plant. The enemy can and will try to cripple you by knocking them out.
Once you have about 6-8 tanks ready, make a move on the base and punch through to the inner buildings. Target the machine and air bases, then the power plants. Even a single unit snuck past enemy lines can wreak total havoc on their infrastructure.
Get a radar up and figure out where the enemy airbases are. Then set up MG emplacements or tanks to shoot them down along their flight path.

GemCraft

"A Gem of a Game... aheh..."

submission: GemCraft
date: March 13, 2009

Definitly one of the best of the "tower defense" style games out there. The gem crafting itself is neat and simple. But takes some thought to get to the better gems. The monsters have some small diversity. Though they could use a little more variety really. The upgrade system is pretty good and allows a player to customize the effects to suite preffrences.

Heres some tips for reaching the latter levels.
1: Put points into increasing your mana total. More mana means more gems or towers can be set up early.
2: put points into starter gems, and definitly aim to max out the final skill of high grade gems as this saves you thousands in MP. Grab the medium grade gem upgrade too as then you can usually merge enough gems to have a really good start.
3: work on maxing out pure gem mastery and then follow up with dual gem. On the side put points into lowering the cost of towers, pits, and gem costs.
4: During play the first things to do is increase your mana buffer as this increases the mana gained per kill. At the high end of upgrading ths it really pays off for some of the longer battles. Keep your toweres relatively clustered together and make sure you have at least 4 pits lined up before the first runners get out the gate.
5: Allways make sure you have a buffer of mana to cover any potential stragglers that make it through your gauntlet.
6: For the final battle it is vital to keep a stockpile of at least 15k mana. The final boss is MEAN! Make sure you have as many towers upgraded to 8 as you can!

Great game and looking forward to the sequel some day!

Slammings

"Reverse Lemmings"

submission: Slammings
date: March 7, 2009

An interesting approach to the lemmings concept. More attack types might help spruce it up some as well as some diversity of the creatures. I not a problem though that for some reason when a level is completed the game freezes up.

The Necronomicon 2.0

"H.P. Lovecraft would enjoy this."

date: March 3, 2009

This is a well thought out card game with some very good art as well for the cards. The AI opponent, while not exactly brilliant. Puts up a pretty good fight if you let your guard down. Gameplay is fairly straigtforward, but the interplay of the diffrent card types, Attack/Summon/Heal/Banish/Taint/Drive Insane/Buff - allow some interesting tactics. Buff your Elder to block damage? Or buff your Arcane to increase spell damage? Whittle away at their health or sanity with monsters and attacks. Many diffrent approaches can present themselves. But where is good ol' Cthulhu? Still sleeping I guess... heh-heh-heh-heh...

Tainted Kingdom

"Very difficult. But very enjoyable too."

submission: Tainted Kingdom
date: February 9, 2009

Not many Flash games dare to feature animated cut scenes and Tainted Kingdom not only has that, but speach as well. This is an interesting variant of the standard defense game and its fairly well executed. I do think that 2 long battles depends a little too much on luck of the draw. But once you discern the system of what troop works against what enemy then the game becomes alot more beatable. Though still very hard in spots. Some upgrades that enhance effectiveness against the Cursed units would help quite a bit as some of the units have no real weaknesses.

All-in-all a great game. Hope to see the sequel some day!

Toon Crisis 2

"Fun mix of live action and toons!"

submission: Toon Crisis 2
date: February 3, 2009

This is a pretty unusual first-person-shooter. The live cut scenes are interesting and the actress looks good and seems to be having fun with her part as the Toon Raider. Good gameplay and not overly hard. Though sometimes when alot of shots are on screen it can lag just a little till threats are eliminated. Overall a very good effort. Would be fin to see a sequel as this seems to end on a cliffhanger!

Seeing as this is apparently really just a trap loader to throw you onto a website. I cannot really suggest this as being remotely viable.

"Amazing."

submission: Aladdin 3150
date: January 24, 2009

Incredible work on this. Well amimated and nicely set up and paced without using any dialogue or SFX at all which is quite a feat. Good expressions and little use of standard Flash tropes and shortcuts. The music score was an excellent choice. Hopefully this will see continuation some day.

Dead Frontier: Night Two

"Creeeeepy!"

date: January 15, 2009

A very well put together game! Good graphics and animation overall.
The weapons could use a little more diffrentiation and the chainsaw seems a bit on the problematic side to actually use propperly. The helpers could use a slight tweak to improve speed and in general activity. Half the time they seem to just stand there as the undead advance.
Otherwise it plays well and isnt so hard its unbeatable. Though figureing out what weapons are good and not may mean a restart or two.
